Day458 Wednesday 11/30/11

15 Months!!!

ran 3.5 miles
Today ends 15 months and 1,384.8 miles of running against Obama! Something short and fun tonight. One of my favorite authors and books is Douglas Adams’ “So Long and Thanks For All the Fish”. Adams, now deceased, had a gift to expose typical human behavior for the chaotic, nutty thing it is, and in the following excerpt he sums up in only a few lines just how chaotic and nutty it is that we elect the politicians we do. Thanks Reddit and speedyturtle4.

Ford Prefect explaining to Arthur Dent about why a robot said "take me to your lizards".

"It comes from a very ancient democracy, you see..."

"You mean, it comes from a world of lizards?"

"No," said Ford, who by this time was a little more rational and coherent than he had been, having finally had the coffee forced down him, "nothing so simple. Nothing anything like to straightforward. On its world, the people are people. The leaders are lizards. The people hate the lizards and the lizards rule the people."

"Odd," said Arthur, "I thought you said it was a democracy."

"I did," said ford. "It is."

"So," said Arthur, hoping he wasn't sounding ridiculously obtuse, "why don't the people get rid of the lizards?"

"It honestly doesn't occur to them," said Ford. "They've all got the vote, so they all pretty much assume that the government they've voted in more or less approximates to the government they want."

"You mean they actually vote for the lizards?"

"Oh yes," said Ford with a shrug, "of course."

"But," said Arthur, going for the big one again, "why?"

"Because if they didn't vote for a lizard," said Ford, "the wrong lizard might get in. Got any gin?"

"What?"

"I said," said Ford, with an increasing air of urgency creeping into his voice, "have you got any gin?"

"I'll look. Tell me about the lizards."

Ford shrugged again.

"Some people say that the lizards are the best thing that ever happened to them," he said.

"They're completely wrong of course, completely and utterly wrong, but someone's got to say it."

Some stats and polls from Rasmussen Reports:
  • Barack Obama’s presidential index rating shows that 20% of American voters strongly approve of his performance while 42% strongly disapprove, giving Obama a presidential index rating of –22.
  • Overall, 44% of voters at least somewhat approve of Obama’s performance while 55% at least somewhat disapprove.
From a USNews article, by Paul Bedard, “President Obama's slow ride down Gallup's daily presidential job approval index has finally passed below Jimmy Carter, earning Obama the worst job approval rating of any president at this stage of his term in modern political history.”

That was only a matter of time. Congratulations, President Obama. Obama’s job approval rating, according to Gallup, is currently 43%. Carter’s, three years into his presidency, was 51%. Jimmy Carter’s arguable legacy as America’s worst president in modern history has just been challenged by eight entire percentage points worth of even less approval by the American people.

Here are some past approval numbers from Gallup of other presidents one year before re-election:
  • Harry S. Truman: 54%
  • Dwight Eisenhower: 78%
  • Lyndon B. Johnson: 44%
  • Richard M. Nixon: 50%
  • Ronald Reagan: 54%
  • George H.W. Bush: 52%
  • Bill Clinton: 51%
  • George W. Bush: 55%
I’m not sure what Barack Obama intends to run on for re-election. He hardly has one leg to even stand upon. His first three years have clearly been deemed unsuccessful by the numbers above. He will more than likely further distract and blame. It’s all he has. And nearly half of this country will buy it. One set of numbers I always rely on to define exactly how divided this nation is shows that only 53% of Americans paid income taxes last year. Under the leadership of Barack Obama, what will happen when that 53% becomes 49% or 45%? 40%? How does a government function if 60% of its people are not even paying taxes, yet feeding with savage hunger off its teat? It makes no sense. This image is not America and Barack Obama deserves every bit of contention he has earned to be America’s new worst president in modern American history.

Day456 Monday 11/28/11

Here is some clear and concise logic from BigGovernment, written by Colleen Owens, that gets reported far too seldom.

While the media is agog with Occupy Wall Street, failing to point out many of their obvious abuses and faults, the Tea Party of Richmond, Virginia has taken the initiative to charge their city for past protests they held in order to point out the unfair treatment the mayor and local government gave to the Tea Party while using tax dollars to support the Occupy Wall Street protesters.

Mayor Dwight Jones received an invoice from the Richmond Tea Party for the cost of their rallies and the mayor, conversely, sent a notice to the Tea Party that they were going to be audited. The audit is a blatant attempt to punish the Tea Party for standing up to what is clearly discrimination.

Approximately $8,500.00 was spent by the Tea Party for three rallies, which took place in the same area the Occupiers are currently occupying. They planned and paid for police, portable toilets, park fees and permits. Tax-payers of Virginia are currently paying for the OWS fiasco in that same area, because the Mayor admittedly sympathizes with them.

This is happening all over the country. It is chaos and our president endorses it. It is not Barack Obama’s place to defend or disrupt a protest but when it is costing tax-payers to clean filth off the streets and to maintain the order of these unruly individuals, limits do begin to present themselves and they need to be enforced.

“I guess we’ll be writing a check to the Tea Party people,” said Councilman Bruce W. Tyler, as quoted in the Richmond Times Dispatch. “You can’t treat one group different from the other. It’s unfair.”

Day455 Sunday 11/27/11

ran 3.5 miles
Today ends week sixty-five of running against Obama. I ran 26.5 miles this week, averaging 3.79 miles per day.

Barack Obama has openly staked his claim that he supports the Occupy Wall Street movement. If you want to split hairs we can at least agree that he sympathizes with them. I, on the other hand, feel no sympathy for them and OWS represents every flaw the Democratic Party will never admit to. Remember when the Tea Party once received news coverage? They were ridiculed, belittled, defaced, and generally slammed with every amount of discredit liberals could throw at them. Yet, they were peaceful, respectful, and effective.

Here is the Tea Party’s achievements:

1. Uniting individuals across the American landscape that believe in a balanced budget, low taxes, hard work, freedom, and the Constitution. That’s about it. And these beliefs were effective in firing handfuls of Democratic Congressmen in November of 2010.

What is Occupy Wall Street going to achieve? Shame on anyone who has ever manipulated a contrived comparison of the Tea Party to Occupy Wall Street. There is no comparison. Here is a list of what OWS has done (thanks BigGovernment.com and Andrew Breitbart), which holds them back from accomplishing anything meaningful. It’s a long one, but it is worth spot-checking at least a few of their hundreds of failures.

Money slated for health law gets detoured
Washington Times---Paige Winfield Cunningham

“In cash-strapped Washington, President Obama’s $1 trillion health care law is presenting a tempting target for lawmakers seeking funds for other projects, as Congress last week raided the health care piggy bank for the third time in less than a year.”

Last Monday President Obama signed $11 billion to pay for the cost of repealing a withholding tax that would have affected government contractors in 2013. There were two other withholding bills (in December and April), which tweaked the health care law to put tax dollars toward other priorities.

To date, approximately $50 billion designated for Obamacare has been allocated elsewhere to pay for more severe and present needs.

“Both earlier efforts dealt with health care issues, but the bill Mr. Obama signed Monday marks the first time that the massive 2010 law has been tapped to fund something completely unrelated.”

WOLF: Obamacare waiver corruption must stop
Washington Times---Dr. Milton R. Wolf

“Selective enforcement of the law is the first sign of tyranny. A government empowered to determine arbitrarily who may operate outside the rule of law invariably embraces favoritism as friends, allies and those with the best-funded lobbyists are rewarded. Favoritism inevitably leads to corruption, and corruption invites extortion. Ultimately, the rule of law ceases to exist in any recognizable form, and what is left is tyranny.”

“Mr. Obama’s own Medicare chief actuary now acknowledges that Obamacare may cause up to 20 million Americans to lose their current health insurance policies, and doctors are increasingly leaving Medicare, Medicaid and the practice of medicine altogether. Good luck keeping them. Another unkeepable promise: Obamacare 'will create 4 million jobs, 400,000 jobs almost immediately.' The Congressional Budget Office’s budget director estimates the law actually will destroy 800,000 jobs.”

“So far, seven entire states and 1,372 businesses, unions and other institutions have received waivers from the law. The list includes the administration’s friends and allies and, of course, those who have the best lobbyists.”

Why are so many of Obama’s friends receiving exemption from something touted as fair and beneficial?

Nearly 20 percent of new Obamacare waivers are gourmet restaurants, nightclubs, fancy hotels in Nancy Pelosi’s district
Daily Caller---Matthew Boyle

“Of the 204 new Obamacare waivers President Barack Obama’s administration approved in April, 38 are for fancy eateries, hip nightclubs and decadent hotels in House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi’s Northern California district. That’s in addition to the 27 new waivers for health care or drug companies and the 31 new union waivers Obama’s Department of Health and Human Services approved.”

I hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving and if you ventured out into the dawn of Black Friday hopefully you did not encounter too many Occupy Black Friday antics. These people behind OWS appear to me as mindless sheep who have zero ambition to move from the barren little spot they’ve been grazing on for their entire lives. No ambition to simply try a new spot and find greater pastures. Instead, they would rather persecute all the others who do have the courage, ambition, and belief in themselves necessary to explore all of the proverbial pastures they choose.

Boycott Black Friday? Brilliant. It is common knowledge that when the federal government hikes taxes on big business or tightens up regulations, especially in an economy like this, people get laid off and the cost are simply passed on to the consumers. On a smaller scale of consumers boycotting big business, if the corporations are at too much of a loss, once again, jobs are lost and costs are raised.

"The idea is simple, hit the corporations that corrupt and control American politics where it hurts, their profits."

Occupy Black Friday Facebook page

I hope somebody takes the initiative one day to collect as many of the names they can find to make a list of the people who are orchestrating all of this destructive, counterproductive behavior. If I ever start a small business in a post-Obama America I would be disappointed to learn that I may have hired an individual who was so completely disconnected with all reality and logic. I would be surprised to see a man or woman who has the time to sit in parks all day and to scream in streets all night at months at a time tell me that he or she is looking for a job and choosing to reverse their mindless, sheepish ways.

Many of these protestors are young and still trying to figure things out for themselves so there is certainly room for them to grow and to see what other pastures await them. But, these older, bitter, resentful, stubborn, relentless, America-hating sticks in the mud---shame on you.

Haven’t heard much about the Tea Party lately, but they took a stand against the Occupiers by holding a “BUYcott Black Friday”, encouraging consumers to spend as much as their pockets will allow. That sounds more like America.

"At a time when our economy is most fragile and ratings agencies are talking about another downgrade of the U.S. credit rating, it's completely irresponsible for Occupy Wall Street to attempt to bring the U.S. economy to a halt on the busiest shopping day of the year."

Ron Paul has been surging in the polls and I have not posted much about him. The reason being he strikes me as agreeable in some ways, such as civil liberties and strictly adhering to the Constitution, but in other ways he is more than controversial. Legalizing marijuana, pulling troops on a massive scale, abandoning Israel, ending the Fed---these ideas may seem attractive or appalling on the surface, but either way, many of the changes Ron Paul wants to implement are definitively radical and, therefore, difficult. Just look at how hard of a time our current radically liberal president is having deconstructing America and reconstructing it on a socialistic model.

Here are some quotes from Ron Paul:

“Lobbyists get paid more than Congressmen because they write more laws than we do.”

“The federal war on drugs is a total failure, at least let sick people have marijuana.”

“1913 wasn't a very good year. 1913 gave us the income tax, the 16th amendment and the IRS.”

“As recent as the year 2000 we won elections by saying we shouldn't be the policemen of the world, and that we should not be nation building. And its time we got those values back into this country.”

“I will always vote what I have promised, and always vote the Constitution, as well as I will not vote for one single penny that isn't paid for, because debt is the monster, debt is what's going to eat us up and that is why our economy is on the brink.”

“Just think of what Woodrow Wilson stood for: he stood for world government. He wanted an early United Nations, League of Nations. But it was the conservatives, Republicans, that stood up against him.”

“There is nothing wrong with describing Conservatism as protecting the Constitution, protecting all things that limit government. Government is the enemy of liberty. Government should be very restrained.”

“There is only one kind of freedom and that's individual liberty. Our lives come from our creator and our liberty comes from our creator. It has nothing to do with government granting it.”

“When the federal government spends more each year than it collects in tax revenues, it has three choices: It can raise taxes, print money, or borrow money. While these actions may benefit politicians, all three options are bad for average Americans.”

“You don't have freedom because you are a hyphenated American; you have freedom because you are an individual, and that should be protected.”

In case you were wondering what all the Occupy protestors have been demonstrating in the streets, in a concentrated form, here you go. Straight out of www.occupywallst.com here are “The Top 10 Things OWS Should Be Doing”.

1. Put pressure on the justice department to actually have an investigation into the fraud that caused the financial crisis and required us to bailout the banks and financial institutions. Then, make sure they know it will never happen again.

2. Find every individual in every bank who gamed the system and made 'liar loans' for people who had no business buying a home, and if the evidence is sufficient, file charges against them for fraud. Anyone who would think about doing that again would think twice. If there is no punishment no one will have the incentive to stop doing it.

3. Make an amendment to Dodd-Frank that says no bonuses will be allowed to the executive officers of any corporation within 7 years of filing for government bankruptcy protection.

4. Freeze all student loans until unemployment is less than 6% for at least 3 quarters in a row. If it goes above 7%, freeze it again. (All student loan debt could have been paid off if we had gotten out of Iraq just 5 months sooner.

5. Put the tax rates back to the way it was when Ronald Reagan took office. It seems like conservatives would get behind that. It would make the top rate 70% of everything over (about) $370,000 a year.

6. Make banks and financial institutions show a completely transparent and real-time minute by minute spread sheet, accessible by anyone, that shows the institution's balance sheets, cash on hand, debt they are carrying, how many loans they are holding and have sold and the value of all that debt. (Analysts would easily be able to tell if an institution was going down a path that would show the possibility of failure and fraud.)

7. Get all the money out of politics. I mean, ALL the money. All campaigns would be financed 100% by the American people. No one would be allowed to accept any donations from anyone, or even use their own money. In this way the people would own the politicians instead of whatever corporation or special interest group can shovel into their coffers.

8. When you work for the people you will accept no money or favors from any lobbyist or special interest, or anyone, for that matter. If we pay you $170,000 a year that better be the only number on your IRS tax form. You are there to SERVE the people, not line your pockets with dirty cash.

9. Raise the minimum wage. Any American who is willing to work 40 hours a week should be able to put a roof over his head, pay some basic utilities, and buy some health groceries. It should be enough that we will eliminate the 'working poor'. If you have a full-time job you will be ok.

10. Let's solve at least one problem, homelessness. I propose we start a national lottery program where ALL of the profits go to getting all homeless people off the streets and help them get the treatment and housing they need.

They make some valid points but they also grasp at nonsense. I favor numbers three, seven, and ten.

(3) The bonuses these executives are given (tax dollars from the bailout) for doing nothing more than creating a mess by taking advantage of others and then being saved by federal tax dollars are inexcusable. Seven years without a bonus is a modest punishment for sabotaging and manipulating an entire nation for one’s own gain.

(7) This one sounds perfectly logical, which is usually a reliable sign that it would never work in Washington. Way too much common sense here. Politicians elected by the people and not by corporations and special interests?

(10) I like this one. But I fear it would be way too much money going through way too many hands before a mere fraction of what was intended for the homeless ever even reached them.

Today in New Hampshire Obama, after being heckled by OWS protestors, calmed them down and finally acknowledged the Occupy protest movement by saying “You are the reason I ran for office.” That’s sort of a definitive statement. Not “one of the” reasons but “the” reason. Thanks a lot, Mr. President. I am quite a few hundred thousand dollars short of being a millionaire yet I have an even greater distance and disagreement with the Occupy Wall Street movement. And I am far from alone. This B.O. quote is just one more of many reasons that I did not vote for him in 2008 and I will not be voting for him in 2012.

"After months of hard work and intense deliberations, we have come to the conclusion today that it will not be possible to make any bipartisan agreement available to the public before the committee’s deadline."

---Rep. Jeb Hensarling (R-Texas) and Sen. Patty Murray (D-Wash.) of the debt Super Committee appointed to find $1.5 trillion in debt savings over a ten-year period.

There’s tax dollars hard at work. I’m not sure how much money the members of the Superbly Challenged Committee earned while sitting in boardrooms staring at one another achieving nothing, but I’m sure it was a lot. And after all was said and done the profound quote stated above was the final collective summation of these undeserving members of Congress’ misspent toils.

That quote above is possibly the dumbest and most insulting message they could have contrived. Maybe that has been what they’ve been up to all this time…coming up with the most ridiculous thing they could think of to say to the Americans they represent. It’s like saying, “After months of hard work and intense deliberations, we have come to the conclusion today that it is not possible to stick a square peg with one-inch sides into a circular hole with a one-inch diameter before the committee’s deadline. But thanks for the million dollars you paid us to reach this determination.”

Huffington Post published a poll today that found Congress currently has a 9% approval rating. Concluding that these were unacceptably low numbers, HuffPo took the liberty of comparing the 9% to other low approval ratings. For example, 11% of Americans approve of polygamy, 30% of Americans approve of pornography, the idea of America becoming a communist nation received 11%, banks earned 23% approval, and the BP oil spill got a 16% approval rating. The IRS had 40% approval in 2009. The Airline Industry and Lawyers have 29% in 2011. Nixon during Watergate had 23% approval. Paris Hilton has 15% approval. And finally, Hugo Chavez in 2007 matches Congress at 9% in 2011.

Now that is refreshing. Even Chris Matthews is pointing out how flawed, disingenuous and unmotivated our president is. This man could be a pioneer in a possible mass-movement liberal media renaissance of enlightenment. Probably not, but I certainly enjoyed watching that video. There has been a lot of buzz for a long time about Obama being encouraged to step down for the sake of the Democratic Party, to be replaced by none other than Hillary Clinton. The gears may be grinding on a new Democratic machine.

Today ends week sixty-four of running against Obama. I ran 17.2 miles this week, averaging 2.46 miles per day.

In a story from the National Journal, written by Michael Catalini, he courts Hillary into the bigger picture and the title speaks for itself: “Democratic Pollsters: Obama Should Abandon Run for Second Term”. Two one-time Democratic pollsters, Patrick H. Caddell and Douglas E. Schoen, suggest Barack Obama should not run for a second term, as Harry Truman and Lyndon Johnson had decided not to, even though they could have.

Caddell was a pollster for Jimmy Carter and Schoen was a pollster for Bill Clinton. They both agree that “He (Obama) should abandon his candidacy for re-election in favor of a clear alternative, one capable not only of saving the Democratic Party, but more important, of governing effectively and in a way that preserves the most important of the president's accomplishments. He should step aside for the one candidate who would become, by acclamation, the nominee of the Democratic Party: Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.”

The two pollsters argued one year ago that if Barack Obama pursued his excessively partisan path, the nation would be further divided and Congress would be gridlocked at the worst possible time.

“The result has been exactly as we predicted: stalemate in Washington, fights over the debt ceiling, an inability to tackle the debt and deficit, and paralysis exacerbating market turmoil and economic decline,” Caddell and Schoen wrote.

Rocky Twyman, self-proclaimed “prayer warrior”, suggests Barack Obama should drop a knee like Tim Tebow and break into prayer as he travels from state to state and speaks. Twyman, of Baltimore’s Rising Sun Baptist Church, led a “Pray at the Pump” movement to seek God’s intervention to lower gas prices.

“We have never heard him PUBLICLY thank God for allowing him to become the first black United States president or for awarding him the Nobel Peace Prize after being in office for only 10 days. I dare President Obama to start publicly praising God at his upcoming campaign stops and State of the Union speech. Such acts will result in prosperity for a nation that is on the verge of a financial and spiritual collapse.”

Rocky Twyman

This country, our America, is fading away, pulled apart and divided, and I also, in a less boisterous manner than Twyman, firmly believe it would be a uniting gesture to bring this country back together on a spiritual level. In fact, I think his numbers would soar if he would make a humble act of this nature. Bend a knee, thank God for your blessings, and pray for your nation’s future.

“I and many of my prayer warriors firmly believe that the Obama administration would be able to solve the serious unemployment and economic problems facing this nation if he gave praise and glory to God publicly for the blessings that he has received as president.”
